Widows In the Wild x Grief to Peaks

September 2 - 7, 2026

Join Dana of Widows in the Wild and Annemarie of Grief to Peaks for a mountain adventure in Whistler, one of the most stunning alpine destinations in the world. Surrounded by dramatic peaks, glacial lakes, and endless fresh air, this retreat is designed for women who crave movement, beauty, and the deep satisfaction that comes from earning the view (and a cold beer) at the end.

With just eight spots, this intimate, all-inclusive experience blends adventure and restoration. Expect challenging alpine hikes through breathtaking landscapes, a peaceful day on the lake beneath towering mountains, time to explore the shops and restaurants of the world-renowned Whistler village, and a spa visit complete with a massage to help your body fully exhale. The hikes are moderately strenuous — enough to push you physically and remind your body what it’s capable of. You don’t need to be an elite athlete, just a willingness to challenge yourself and show up.

Traveling alongside other women who understand widowhood — without needing to explain it — creates an ease that allows you to be fully present, curious, and open to joy. This is a chance to explore one of the most beautiful corners of the world, while being supported by thoughtful planning, shared experience, and a small group that feels like family.

ITINERARY

9/3

9/7

Arrival + Welcome Dinner

9/2

From your arrival in Vancouver, the details will be handled. We’ll shuttle you straight to our Whistler home, where you’ll meet the group and ease into the week with a relaxed welcome dinner—mountain air, good food, and the beginning of something special.

Epic Hike + Whistler Village

We start strong with a stunning alpine hike, complete with sweeping mountain views that make every step worth it. After lunch, spend the afternoon wandering Whistler Village — think charming shops, patios, and après vibes—or head back to the house to soak in the hot tub and take it slow.

9/4

Lake Day + Paddle

A full exhale kind of day. Kayak, stand-up paddle, swim, or simply lounge by the glacier-fed lake with a picnic lunch, sunshine, and great company—set against a backdrop of towering peaks and crystal-clear water.

9/5

9/6

Big Hike + Peak-to-Peak Views

Our most adventurous day. We’ll ride the iconic Peak 2 Peak Gondola, then set out on a ~15-mile alpine trek through wildflower meadows, forests, and mountain lakes. We’ll celebrate strong legs and earned views with a cold beer and dinner at a local brewery.

Thermal Spa & Massage

Movement meets restoration. After a leisurely brunch, we’ll spend the day at the spa rotating through hot and cold plunge pools, cedar saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms, waterfalls, and quiet rest spaces—topped off with a massage that lets your body fully unwind. We’ll finish the day with a lux dinner at one of the best spots in Whistler.

Final Goodbyes + Departure

Goodbyes, hugs, and the kind of gratitude that comes from sharing something unforgettable. We’ll shuttle everyone back to the Vancouver airport — stronger, more connected, and full of stories.

Meet Your Organizers

This trip is in partnership with Dana of Widows in the Wild & Founder of Forced Joy Project, and Annemarie, Founder of Griefs to Peaks and a Widows in the Wild Alumni.

Dana & Annemarie became friends after realizing they both have a love for adventure, good food, unique experiences, and a touch of bougie-ness. Together they have traveled to Bali, Patagonia, and the Galapagos Islands (and soon, Morocco).

No matter where in the world we are, Annemarie has a reputation for finding the best restaurants and the trail with the best view. She leads with kindness and compassion, which is essential in her day job as a Palliative Care Nurse. After becoming a widow, she began Grief to Peaks as a way to share her love for the climb — and a view with a payoff — with other widows.

Dana and Annemarie have been dreaming of running a trip together, and it’s an honor to team up on this incredible trip!
